Obituary for Daryll Woodrow Harris

Daryll Woodrow Harris, 79, of Black Rock, Arkansas, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Friday, May 29, 2020. Daryll was born on August 22, 1940, in Spokane, Washington, to Percival Woodrow and Louise Madison Harris.

On December 22, 1959, Daryll married the love of his life, Gloria Jean Wells. They were married for over sixty years. Daryll was a loving husband, father, son, brother, father-in-law, grandfather, great grandfather, brother-in-law, cousin, neighbor, and friend.

Daryll served in the United States Navy for twenty years, retiring with the rank of Chief Petty Officer. In addition, Daryll served as the minister of the Valley Chapel Church of Christ, near Ravenden Springs, for forty-one years.

Daryll is preceded in death by his parents, Percival Woodrow and Louise Madison Harris.

Daryll is survived by his wife of sixty years, Gloria Jean Wells Harris; three daughters, Debbie (Barry) Long, of Cabot, Cheryl Harris, of Marked Tree, and Terri (Von) Smith, of Pocahontas; sisters, Darlene (Bill) Turner, and Diana (Gene) Ives; nine grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.

All services will be held in the chapel of the Fears Family Funeral Home, in Pocahontas, Arkansas, on Monday, June 1, 2020. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm. Daryll’s funeral service will immediately follow, beginning at 2:00 pm; Jon Fears, officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Union Cemetery, near Birdell.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Donald Hufford, Moye Hawkins, James Long, Jonathan Galbraith, Nathan Ashley, Andrew Smith, and Alex Smith. The family wishes to respectfully designate David Long as an honorary pallbearer.
