Obituary for Doretta Seals (Blackwell)

Doretta Blackwell Seals, 81, of Pocahontas, Arkansas, passed away on Friday, December 13, 2019, at NEA Baptist Hospital, in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Doretta was born on Thursday, December 16, 1937, in Blackwell Den, Arkansas, to Theodore “Ted” Roosevelt Blackwell and Dorothy May England Blackwell.

Doretta was a loving mother, daughter, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, great aunt, neighbor, and friend.

Doretta was involved with John 3:16 Ministries and loved the Senior Citizens Dance, playing bingo, and attending the Branson Music Fest. She was of the Baptist faith.

Doretta is preceded in death by her parents, Theodore “Ted” Roosevelt Blackwell and Dorothy May England Blackwell; husband, Dan Seals; and brother, Harold Wayne Blackwell.

Doretta is survived by her son, Scott Joe Venson, of Batesville; two daughters, Karen Annette (David) Fortenberry, of Little Rock, and Robin Ann (Mark) Brown, of Pocahontas; two sisters, Uveta Matthews, and Bonnie Campbell, both of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; twelve grandchildren, Travis Scott (Ashland) Venson, of Gilbert, Arizona, Daniel Joe Venson, of Wichita, Kansas, Dylan Lee (Carol Sue) Ford, Jace Scott Ford, Tristan Zane Zosso, Brently Zosso, Alex (Jessica) Brown, Austin Garrett Brown, Adam Spencer Brown, all of Pocahontas, Shane (Raven Dawn) Ham, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Anna Fortenberry, of Garland, Texas, and Katie Peek, of Little Rock; five great grandchildren, Kayden Venson, Draven Xavier Venson, and Aubryanna Venson, all of Gilbert, Arizona, and, Eli Ham and Kennedy Ham, both of Chattanooga, Tennessee; three great-great-grandchildren, Harper Annaleigh Ford, Colby Wayne Jaques, and Braylee Brown; niece, Mona (Bill) Ketcherside; three nephews, Matt Matthews, Keith (Michelle) Campbell, and Kevin (Katie) Campbell; great niece, Lindsay (Casen) Huggins; great nephew, Trevor White; special friend, Dawn Davis; and many other family and friends, which are too numerous to mention.

A private funeral service was held at the Sutton Free Will Baptist Church, in Pocahontas, on Friday, December 20, 2019; Kevin Barnett, officiating. Burial followed in the Walnut Grove Cemetery, in Elm Store.

Doretta was carried to her final earthly resting place by her grandsons, Dylan Ford, Jace Ford, Alex Brown, Austin Brown, Travis Venson, and Daniel Venson.
