Obituary for Franklin D. Christner

Franklin D. Christner, 88, of Pocahontas, Arkansas, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on Thursday, July 09, 2020. Franklin was born on June 18, 1932, in Shelbyville, Illinois, to Joe D. and Emma Eigsti Christner.

Franklin was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, grandfather, great grandchildren, neighbor, and friend. He worked as a carpenter most all his life.

Franklin is preceded in death by his parents; daughter-in-law, Virginia; brother, Joe; sisters, Lavina and Luella; grandchildren, Mandi, Forrest, Scott, Phebe, and Thaddeus; and four great grandchildren.

Franklin is survived by his wife, Sarah Miller Christner, of the home; eight sons, Douglas (Darlene) Christner, of Warm Springs, Stanley (Lorraine) Christner, of Sedalia, Missouri, Justin (Debbie) Christner, of Altus, Jim (Laura) Christner, of Pocahontas, Frank (Esther) Christner Jr., of Pocahontas, Arnold (Mary) Christner, of Ravenden Springs, Stephen (Darlene) Christner, of Ravenden Springs, and Nathaniel (Renae) Christner, of Pocahontas; three daughters, Shelby (Jerry) Eigsti, of Sedalia, Missouri, Gloria (Mathew) Eigsti, of Hughesville, Missouri, and Lovina (Rufus) Yoder, of Sedalia, Missouri; seventy-one grandchildren; one-hundred sixty-three great grandchildren; two brothers, Christy and Jake; and three sisters, Gloria, Barbara, and Emily.

Visitation for Franklin Christner will be at the Mt. Salem School, in the Hamil Community, in northern Randolph County, Arkansas, on Saturday, July 11, 2020, from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm, and 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm.

Franklin’s funeral service will be held at the Mt. Salem Church, in the Hamil Community, in northern Randolph County, Arkansas, beginning at 10:00 am, on Sunday, July 12, 2020. Burial will follow in the Mt. Salem Cemetery.

Franklin’s grandsons are honored to serve as pallbearers.
