Obituary for Iva Jean Templeton

Iva Jean Templeton, 94, of Pocahontas, formally of Maynard, Arkansas, passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2020, at the Northeast Arkansas Baptist Memorial Hospital, in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Iva was born on Friday, December 25, 1925, in Leadwood, Missouri, to Chris and Mae Bailey Minker.

Iva was a loving wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, great grandmother, neighbor, and friend. She was a long-time member of the Witt's Chapel Baptist Church, in Maynard.

Ida is preceded in death by her parents, Chris and Mae Bailey Minker; first husband, Thomas Robert Bazzell; second husband, Homer Ned Templeton; son, Allen Michael Floyd; grandson, Steven Lenn Emily; and nine brothers and sisters, Christine Hope, Kathleen Spencer, Norman Minker, Earnest Minker, Mona Lay, Betty Gronemeyer, Harold Minker, Anita Arand, and Myra Haun.

Iva is survived by her son, Tom (Roxann) Bazzell, of Maynard; daughter, Ruth Ann (Bert) Sluder, of Paragould; daughter-in-law, Suzi Floyd, of Humble, Texas; six grandchildren, Angela Floyd, of Humble, Texas, Tonya (Brandon) Hassell, of Pocahontas, Jesse Teschke, of Paragould, Barbie (Slade) Weisenbach, of Maynard, Tommy (Kim) Bazzell III, of Pocahontas, and Jodi Lester, of Pocahontas; thirteen great grandchildren; and many friends.

All services will be held in the chapel of the Fears Family Funeral Home, in Pocahontas, Arkansas, on Tuesday, August 4, 2020. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm. Iva’s funeral service will immediately follow, beginning at 4:00 pm; Rick Hassell, officiating. Burial will follow in the Maynard Cemetery.

Carrying Iva to her final earthly resting place will be Jesse Teschke, Tommy Bazzell III, Brandon Hassell, Slade Weisenbach, Cooper Hassell, Nathaniel Hassell, Seth Hassell, Memphis Bazzell, and Kache Weisenbach.

Due to COVID-19 directives, issued by the Governor of Arkansas specifically for funeral services, the following will be required in order to attend the visitation and/or funeral service: wearing of a face mask, signing the contact registry, and maintaining all social distancing requirements.
