Obituary for Johnny Ray Smith

Johnny Ray Smith, 51, of Pocahontas, Arkansas, passed away at home, on Thursday, May 7, 2020. Johnny was born on March 28, 1969, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Gerald Ray and Jenetta Faye Head Smith.

Johnny was a loving son, brother, uncle, neighbor, and friend. He was a Christian and proud to be affiliated with the First Pentecostal Church, in Dexter, Missouri.

Johnny is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, William James and Pearle Irene Branch Smith; and maternal grandparents, Alfred Lee and Juanita Shipley Head.

Johnny is survived by his parents, Gerald Ray and Jenetta Faye Head Smith, of Pocahontas; brother, Jerry Ray (Jodi) Smith, of Rolla, Missouri; two sisters, Susan (Mitch) Rowe, of Pocahontas, and Sonia (Wayne) Meridith, of Pocahontas; many nieces and nephews; and faithful canine companions, Tater, Ranger, and Tot.

All services will be held in the chapel of the Fears Family Funeral Home, on Saturday, May 16, 2020. Visitation will be from 2:30 – 4:00 pm. Johnny’s funeral service will immediately follow, beginning at 4:00 pm; Jeff Wells, officiating. Burial will follow in the Gross Cemetery, near Attica.

Jarrett Meridith, Corey Rowe, Charlie Adams, Cody Martin, Cambrin Morgan, Joey Head, Lee Wayne Head, and Wayne Meridith are honored to serve as pallbearers.

The family wishes to respectfully designate Jerry Ray Smith and Mitch Rowe as honorary pallbearers.
