Obituary for Ricky "Rick" Wayne "Renshi Rick" Turner Sr.

Ricky “Renshi Rick” Wayne Turner Sr., 66, of Pocahontas, Arkansas, passed away on June 18, 2020, at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital, in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas. Rick was born on July 1, 1953, in Rockford, Illinois, to Billy Charles and Hassel Coleen Haas Turner.

Rick never met a stranger. He considered it a privilege to be able to mentor many children and adults during his lifetime. He truly cared about others and went out of his way to help people any way possible. People close to Rick referred to him as Master “Renshi” Turner. Rick was a long-time karate instructor and was at the top of his field. Rick is responsible for helping hundreds improve their lives through martial arts.

In addition, Rick was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, teacher, neighbor, and friend.

Rick is preceded in death by his parents, Billy Charles and Hassel Coleen Haas Turner; sister, Vickie Nichols; granddaughter, Devyn Burton; and nephew, Larry Tennant Jr.

Rick is survived by two sons, Ricky “Dick” (Rebecca) Turner Jr., of Walnut Ridge, and Jeremy (Dawn) Turner, of Walnut Ridge; two brothers, Robert (Brenda) Turner, of Pocahontas, and Billy (Diane) Turner, of Warm Springs; five sisters, Melissa (Larry Sr.) Tennant, of Rockford, Illinois, Hassel (Rick) Patterson, of Pocahontas, Chris Turner, of Pocahontas, Janet Turner, of Pocahontas, and Jennifer (Mike) Johnson, of Pocahontas; grandchildren, Crystal, Harley, Julie, Jada, Jace, Jared, Cody, Tyler, Paradise, and Zoey; and great grandchildren, Lily, Hayden, Maybre, Mila, and Ryker.

A graveside funeral service will be held at the Macedonia Cemetery, near Warm Springs, Arkansas, at 2:00 pm, on Saturday, June 20, 2020; Wes Craft, officiating. “Renshi Rick’s” karate family is asked to arrive at the cemetery at 1:30 pm.
