Obituary for Rita Lucille McGinnis (Fears)

Rita Lucille Fears McGinnis, 82, of Jonesboro, Arkansas, formerly of Hoxie, passed away at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House, on Tuesday, March 17, 2020. Rita was born on Monday, September 06, 1937, in Alicia, Arkansas, to John Herman and Lucille Etta Dunlap Fears.

Rita was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, cousin, neighbor, and friend. She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church, in Walnut Ridge.

Rita is preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy “Jim” McGinnis; parents, John Herman and Lucille Etta Dunlap Fears; son, Jason Alan McGinnis; brother, Johnnie “Harold” Fears; and sister, Ina Fears Pickney.

Survivors include, daughter, Brenda Ruthie Madden, of Walnut Ridge; brothers, Kenneth (Shirley) Fears, of Walnut Ridge, Gerald (Katie) Fears, of Pocahontas, and Darrell (Rose) Fears, of Pocahontas; sisters, Barbara (Bill) McClure, of Trumann, Faye (Darrell) Pickney, of Hoxie, and Maye (Donnie) Bourisaw, of Walnut Ridge; grandsons, Wesley (Tamra) Madden, of Crystal Springs, Mississippi, Chris (Laura) Madden, of Jonesboro, and Matthew Aaron (Jayme) McGinnis, of Hoxie; great grandchildren, Grace Madden, Barrett Madden, Brantley Madden, Blake Madden, Briggs Madden, and Connor McGinnis; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

All services will be held in the chapel of the Fears Family Funeral Home, in Pocahontas, Arkansas, on Saturday, March 21, 2020. Visitation will be from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm. Rita’s funeral service will immediately follow, beginning at 12:00 pm; Gerald Fears, officiating. Burial will follow in the Ward Cemetery, near Strawberry.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Chris Madden, Wesley Madden, Matthew Aaron McGinnis, Bill McClure, Darrell Pickney, and Michael Bailey.

Due to the current ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, it is requested that Rita’s visitation and funeral service be limited to family members only. This request is in line with recommendations from the CDC, Arkansas Health Officials, and local medical professionals.
