Obituary for Sidney David Huffman
Sidney David Huffman, 84, passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2019, at his home, in Pocahontas, Arkansas, surrounded by family. The son of Cid Jewel Huffman and Mina Delphia McCain Huffman, Sidney was born on August 22, 1935, in Risco, Missouri.
Sidney and his wife, Helen Fitzgerald Huffman, reached the milestone of sixty-one years of marriage on December 6, 2019, having said their vows on the same day in 1958. They were blessed with five children, seventeen grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.
Throughout his life, Sidney worked in various fields including harvesting, construction, timber, running a charcoal production business, and farming. He retired from Waterloo Industries and after that He and Helen enjoyed selling crafts they made to various flea markets. They often set-up on weekends at the Waterwheel and other area locations. In addition, you could always count on them to have a large garden.
Sidney’s family lived in Michigan, Florida, and Missouri. After their five children were raised, they settled in Arkansas. Sidney’s children remember their father as a hard worker and a very caring and loving man who always made sure they had everything they needed. In addition, Sidney was of the Protestant faith and attended the House of Mercy Tabernacle Church.
Preceding Sidney in death is his son, Jeffrey Huffman; daughter-in-law, Samone Huffman; parents, Cid Jewel Huffman and Mina Delphia McCain Huffman; and siblings, Thomas LeRoy Huffman and Ann Marie Huffman Blodgett.
In addition to his wife, Helen, survivors include sons, Clifford (Barbara) Huffman, of Doniphan, Missouri, Nick (Marsha) Huffman, of Lowell, Monty Huffman, of Pocahontas, and David Dwain Huffman, of Little Rock; daughters, Tina (Rick) Evans, of Taylor, Arizona, and Mary Katherine Wiggins; brothers, James (Joyce) Huffman, Danny Joe Huffman, Rick Huffman, Roger (Marcia) Huffman, and Ronnie Huffman; sisters, Claudine Powell, Margie (Marvin) Woods, Betty (Don) Morris, and Lana Kay (John) Darnell; grandchildren, Dena Huffman, David Huffman, Timothy Huffman, Victoria (Joshua) Plumb, John (Janaya) Henderson, Sylvia (Matthew Adams) Pike, Emily Evans, Lianne Evans, Alex (Rebeca) Copeland, Nichole Huffman, Jamie Huffman, Kristen (Chris) Franklin, Ashli (Blake) Clements, Kristen (Andrew) VanBrook, Cody (Melissa) Huffman, Megan (Kenny) Cole, Zachary (Megan Johnson) Huffman; great grandchildren, Jordan and Gauge Huffman, Emily Huffman, Jaxon Plumb, Landen, Addie, and Max Henderson, Caleb and Jacob Pike, Sawyer Adams, Liam and Mason Copeland, Addison and Baylen Franklin, Breyden, Thai, and Paetyn Clements, Malachi Hackney, Blaine Johnson, Johnny and Alexander VanBrook, Noah Cole, Dakota and Beau Huffman; and great great grandchildren, Brinlee and Everly Huffman.
All services will be held in the chapel of the Fears Family Funeral Home, in Pocahontas, Arkansas, on Saturday, December 14, 2019. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm. Sidney’s funeral service will immediately follow, beginning at 2:00 pm; Dan Avery, officiating. Burial will follow in the Sutton Cemetery, near Pocahontas.
Sidney’s grandsons, Timothy Huffman, Alex Copeland, Cody Huffman, Zachary Huffman, Joshua Plumb, and Blake Clements are honored to serve as pallbearers.
