Obituary for Steven Ray Shipley
Steven “Steve” Ray Shipley, 66, of Pocahontas, Arkansas, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2020. Steven was born on Wednesday, July 22, 1953, in Rockford, Illinois, to Ray Lloyd and Ruby Jewel Richmond Shipley.
Steven was a loving husband, father, son, brother, grandfather, brother-in-law, son-in-law, uncle, neighbor, and friend. He was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church, in Pocahontas.
Steven is preceded in death by his parents, Ray Lloyd and Ruby Jewel Richmond Shipley; sister, Marilyn Jo Shipley; mother-in-law, Pauline Walker; sister-in-law, Katherine Walker; and brother-in-law, James Carroll.
Steven is survived by his wife, Helen Louise Walker Shipley, of the home; son, Jason (Katrina Snow) Shipley, of Pocahontas; brother, Alan (Michelle) Shipley, of Pocahontas; sisters, Brenda Carroll, of Maynard, and Patsy (Billy Mack) Jones, of Smithville; and grandchildren, Jalyn Shipley, Addison Shipley, and Amelia “Millie” Richey.
All services will be held in the chapel of the Fears Family Funeral Home, in Pocahontas, Arkansas. Visitation will be from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm, on Thursday, March 12, 2020. Steven’s funeral service will begin at 3:00 pm, on Friday, March 13, 2020; Nelson Henderson, officiating. Burial will follow in the Randolph Memorial Gardens Cemetery, in Pocahontas.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Will Walker, Sam Walker, Chris Hoggard, Rex Jones, Billy Jones, and Allen Thielemier. Steven’s granddaughters, Jalyn Shipley, Addison Shipley, and Amelia “Millie” Richey will serve as honorary pallbearers.
