Obituary

Terry Seldon Frizzell, 74, of Harrison, Arkansas, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on Tuesday, August 13, 2019. Terry was born on Wednesday, May 2, 1945, in Melbourne, Arkansas, to Jason and Syble Hanley Frizzell.
Terry was a loving husband, father, son, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, son-in-law, brother-in-law, neighbor, and friend. He was the minister at the Flippin Church of Christ, in Flippin, Arkansas, for the last twelve years of his life.
Terry preached his first gospel sermon in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas when he was sixteen years old. He continued to preach the gospel for fifty-eight years. In addition to preaching, Terry served in the mission fields in Russia and the South Pacific. Terry preached in many congregations in Arkansas and Missouri. He loved to preach and teach God’s Word. In addition, he was a counselor and director at the Green Valley Bible Camp, in Rogers, Arkansas; twenty-seven total years.
In June of 1964, Terry married Retha Hurtt. To this marriage three children were born. Retha departed this life in December of 1978.
On October 20, 2001, Terry married Beverly Bucy. Terry and Beverly thoroughly enjoyed life together serving the Lord, living on a farm, and riding fox trotters. Terry’s love for his family was only surpassed by his love for God. This could truly be seen in the way he lived and raised his children.
Terry is preceded in death by his parents, Jason and Syble Hanley Frizzell; first wife, Retha Hurtt Frizzell; Retha’s parents, Roy and Grace Hurtt; and mother-in-law, Sue Bucy.
Terry is survived by his wife, Beverly Bucy Frizzell, of the home; three children, Jena (Troy) Estes, Terry Wayne (Teri) Frizzell, and Jamie (Kevin) Hedden; grandchildren, Casey (Cory) Wood, Derek (Laura) Estes, Creston (Dina) Frizzell, Tyler Estes, Meghan (Brice) Thompson, Hannah Estes, and Baylee Hedden; great grandchildren, Rylei Wood, Skylar Wood, Miles Estes, and Baby Thompson (due in February of 2020); one brother, Roger (Vicki) Frizzell; brother and sister of the heart, Gerald and Katie Fears; father-in-law, Jess Bucy; sister-in-law’s, Carol Knight, Freda (J.C.) Caldwell, and Doris Hurtt; uncle, Clay (Judy) Hanley; and several nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
Terry’s family will receive friends from 9:30 am – 11:00 am, at the Mammoth Spring Church of Christ, in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, on Friday, August 16, 2019. Terry’s funeral service will immediately follow, beginning at 11:00 am; Ervin Hill and Gerald Fears, officiating. Burial will be the same day, at 3:30 pm, at the Woodland Heights Cemetery, in Rector, Arkansas.
Carrying Terry to his final earthly resting place will be Derek Estes, Tyler Estes, Creston Frizzell, Cory Wood, Brice Thompson, and Stan Caldwell.
The family respectfully designates the following individuals as honorary pallbearers: Jess Bucy, Rex Brazell, Flippin Church of Christ Elders (Larry Blasdel Sr., Mickey Griffin, and Sheridan Kirksey), and the Flippin Church of Christ Deacons (Larry Blasdel Jr., Ken Hullett, Troy Hullett, and Justin Matthews).

Although I never met Terry personally, I did know his father and I know he came from a great family and that the Lord was first in their lives. My thoughts and prayers are with them and all those that knew him.

Terry and Retha moved to Monett in the early 70's. Jena was toddling, Terry Wayne was in diapers and Jamie was coming in a few months. We became wonderful friends, Terry was becoming a distinguished preacher and teacher and impacted our lives by his words and examples. We enjoyed his and Retha's company, as good friends do, by sharing time and activities together. Precious are those memories! May we meet again, for our great inheritance in the Masters kingdom, is our prayer.
