Obituary for Verda Mae Mariott Brown (Mariott)
Verda Mae Mariott Brown, 73, of Pocahontas, Arkansas, passed away on Monday, November 25, 2019, at the NEA Baptist Hospital, in Jonesboro. Verda was born on December 12, 1945, in Ravenden Springs, Arkansas, to Leamon and Georgian Smith Mariott.
On December 22, 1967, Verda married the love of her life, Lester Cordell Brown. Verda was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, niece, cousin, neighbor, and friend. She was of the Baptist faith.
Verda is preceded in death by her parents, Leamon and Georgian Smith Mariott; husband, Lester Cordell Brown; brother, J.T. Mariott; and three sisters, Helen Dunn, Alta DeLoach, and Sue Rippy.
Verda is survived by two daughters, Stacy (Rick Miller) Throesch, of Pocahontas, and Shelley Lawrence, of Pocahontas; brother, Bobby (Barbara) Mariott, of Bono; sister, Judy Daphine (Robert) Hill, of Russellville; five grandchildren, Brandon Loggains, Brittney (Kenny) Smith, Ashley (J.J.) Rogers, Spencer (Madison) Rash, and Hannah (Colton) Jones; eight great grandchildren, Kelsey Smith, Kaidince Webb, Bryson Loggains, Bentlee Rogers, Blakelee Smith, Sutton Foster, Watson Rash, and Jett Jones.
All services for Verda Mae Mariott Brown will be held on Friday, November 29, 2019. Verda’s visitation will be from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm, in the chapel of the Fears Family Funeral Home, in Pocahontas. A graveside funeral service will follow, beginning at 1:00 pm, at the Yadkin Cemetery, near Ravenden Springs; Bobby Mariott, officiating.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Colton Jones, Ernie Brown, Greg DeLoach, Clark Chastain, Ronnie Dulgar, and D.J. Newell. The family wishes to designate Brandon Loggains, Spencer Rash, Terry Houltzhouser, Kenny Smith, and Rick Miller as honorary pallbearers.
