Obituary for Victor Wayne Finley

Victor Wayne Finley, 60, passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2019, at the Methodist University Hospital, in Memphis, Tennessee. Wayne was born on Monday, June 22, 1959, in Pocahontas, Arkansas, to the late Rita Mae Finley Young.

Wayne was a loving father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, neighbor, co-worker, and friend. He worked for the City of Pocahontas and the Waterloo Company for many years. Wayne was a 1976 graduate of Pocahontas High School and went on to play college football at Arkansas State University, in Jonesboro.

Wayne loved God, his family, and his country. He was baptized at the First Free Will Baptist Church, in Pocahontas. Wayne also was an avid collector and hunter. In addition, he loved to smile and spend time with his family every opportunity he had.

Wayne is preceded in death by his mother, Rita Mae Finley Young; brother, Rickey Eugene Finley; and grandparents, Harold and Lurine Finley.

Wayne is survived by his children, Victor (Krissy) Finley, of Illinois, and Christopher Blackwell, of Pocahontas; grandchildren, Landon and Owen, of Illinois, and Olivia, of Oklahoma; siblings, Robert Finley, of Springfield, Missouri, Robin (O.W.) Lewis, of Pocahontas, Lewis Young, of Oklahoma, and Jennifer Ballard, of Springfield, Missouri; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.

All services for Wayne Finley will be held in the chapel of the Fears Family Funeral Home, in Pocahontas, Arkansas. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm, on Friday, September 13, 2019. Wayne’s funeral service will begin at 10:00 am, on Saturday, September 14, 2019; Jon Fears, officiating. Burial will immediately follow in the Randolph Memorial Gardens Cemetery, in Pocahontas.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Victor Finley, George Hunter Jr., Micheal Johnson, Shane Swift, Willis Johnson, Maurice Johnson, and Chris Blackwell.

The family respectfully designates Robert Finley, Lewis Young, Derrick Kimble, Dennis Basco, and Terry Ballard Jr. as honorary pallbearers.
