Obituary for William Lindley "Bill" Britt
William “Bill” Lindley Britt, 73, of Pocahontas, Arkansas, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on Saturday, June 15, 2019. Bill was born on Wednesday, December 5, 1945, in Lepanto, Arkansas, to William L. and Ruby L. Waters Britt.
Bill loved farming, tractors, and working outside. In addition, he was a race car owner and also loved wrestling. Bill was a loving husband, father, brother, son, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, co-worker, neighbor, and friend.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, William L. and Ruby L. Waters Britt; daughter, Diane Metler; brothers, Leroy, Luther, and Lutie Britt; sisters, Elizabeth Brown, and Lilybelle Britt; and grandchildren, Nicolas Stout, and Kristan Norwood.
Bill is survived by his wife, Vickie A. Adams Britt, of the home; sons, William (Melissa) Britt Jr., of Pocahontas, Billy Joe (Sharon) Britt, of Jonesboro, Buddy Wayne (Cindy) Britt, of Paragould, and James Britt, of Hoxie; daughters, Rachael Norwood, of Conway, Melissa Waggle, of Pocahontas, Darlene (Thomas) Cunningham, of Jonesboro, and Angela Watson, of Jonesboro; brother, Jimmy (Lynn) Britt, of Indiana; sisters, Dorothy Britt, of Jonesboro, Marie Spencer, of Jonesboro, Hattie (Bill) Wilson, of Trumann, and Lucille Rusher, of Indiana; twenty-six grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and faithful canine companion, Rusty.
All services will be held in the chapel of the Fears Family Funeral Home, in Pocahontas, on Tuesday, June 18, 2019. Visitation will be from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm. Bill’s funeral service will immediately follow, beginning at 12:00 pm; Timmy Randall, officiating. Burial will follow in the Chesser Cemetery, near Pocahontas.
Serving as pallbearers are Billy D. Britt, Zack Cunningham, Jacob Haney, Nathaniel Pierce, Dominic Pierce, Ryan Brown, and Rachel Stout. The family respectfully designates William Britt Jr., Billy Joe Britt, and Buddy Wayne Britt as honorary pallbearers.
